About
My work is rooted in a romantic fascination with the natural world—particularly the quiet beauty of rocks, pebbles, and the landscapes they belong to. I have always been a collector of nature’s small treasures, drawn to the textures and colours that hold stories of place and memory.
Growing up on the northeast coast of Scotland, I developed a deep sentimental connection to where the iconic Caithness flagstone adorns the coast and the formidable seasons weather the landscape.
This interest inspired my practice while I studied at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in painting in 2013.
After a decade dedicated to photography, I’ve found myself instinctively returning to painting. This time, however, my approach is more grounded—both literally and conceptually. I now draw pigment directly from the rocks that inspire me, using natural materials to create work that is physically and emotionally tied to place and memory.
